What is a Giclee’? (Zhee-clay)
Giclee’ is a french term meaning "to spray or squirt" which is how an inkjet printer works. A giclee’ is an individually produced, high-resolution, high tech reproduction done on a large format printer. Giclee’s are produced from a digital scan or digital capture of an existing original artwork.
The Giclee’ is quickly becoming the new standard in the fine art industry, and is widely embraced for its astonishing quality by major museums, galleries, publishers and artists. A giclee’ print is quite simply the closest replication of an original artwork that is currently possible.
Giclee’s can be printed on paper or canvas and are superior to traditional lithography in nearly every way. They are so high-resolution that they are virtually 'continuous tone', rather than tiny dots.
All my prints are Limited Edition, inspected, signed & numbered by me. My giclee's are printed with Epson Ultrachrome professional archival inks on Epson ultra premium 100% cotton rag paper for unmatched quality and longevity. The # of a Limited Edition is the TOTAL # printed regardless of size and once sold out, no more will ever be printed.
All giclee’s are also available on canvas as a "Gallery Wrap" (canvas wrapped around 2" stretcher bars) requiring no framing. Please let me know if interested in this option for any piece that you like.
